With reference to your letter No. F.3715/29/10

of the 6th July, regarding the renewal of negotiations

on the subject of the proposed liong Kong China

Customs Agreement, I am directed by Lord rassfield to

transmit to you, to be laid before the Secretary of

State for Foreign Affairs, a copy of a tele ram from 10th July.1931. the Governor, reporting on the visit of kr. maze's

Secretary to Hong Kong.

2. The Secretary of State would be glad to

receive är. Henderson's observations on this tele ram.

His Lordship concurs in the Governor's opinion that,

in view of the relations existing between Nanking and

Canton it would be undesirable to sign such an

Agreement at present.
